YANGQIN
The Chinese hammered dulcimer.
The yangqin is a Chinese hammered dulcimer, likely derived from the Iranian santur or the European dulcimer. Belonging to the same psaltry family, the yangqin is a fully chromatic dulcimer with a wide register.
I bought myself one years ago and have been exploring it ever since, adapting it to different styles and using it for composing and arraging songs. It's timbre and technique are quite different from other dulcimers I own, but it's uniqueness fascinates me.
It will become a very useful intrument in future arrangements I'm writing for original pieces.
